Red Barn

Happy to say that I have figured out the scanning problems that I was having… my all-in-one scanner was not responding anymore. So I decided to shut it down, shut down the computer and then reboot. And voilà! Everything is ready. So I rescanned my Red Barn and decided to scan in my value sketch that I did before the real painting. So here it is… you will see the badly photographed version at the bottom. So the moral of the story is that nothing can beat a good scanner.

It seems as though my obsession has ended… now I’m into painting old barns–it seems as though I need a weekly theme. Here is a very old barn right at the junction of Vaudreuil and Hudson. There used to be a permanent barn sale going on there, but it seems to be closed now… too bad as I had never had the chance of looking at what they had to offer.

Ça faisait bien longtemps que je voulais peindre cette grange… et une fois la peinture finie, je me précipite pour aller la numériser, et mon scanner est finito… il ne veut plus fonctionner. Argh. Donc j’ai pris une photo à la place. Je vais la rescanner la minute qu’il est réparé… humph! Ces petits scanners ne sont pas chers, mais ne sont pas trop intelligents non plus…

J’ai trouvé comment réparer mon numériseur et j’ai numérisé ma peinture ainsi que le croquis en niveaux de gris que je fais toujours avant. La peinture que j’ai photographiée est en bas de cette page… la morale de cette histoire? Rien ne bat un bon numériseur ;-) Pourquoi faire un croquis avec les niveaux de gris? Ça nous permet de voir les ombres, les tonalités hautes et basses et aussi de voir si la future peinture est bien cadrée et intéressante. Je mets environ 10 minutes pour faire ces croquis et environ 1 heure pour faire la “vraie” peinture. Pour ceux qui vivent dans le coin, est-ce que vous savez où se trouve cette vieille grange?
