I have a fascination with trees… I love them. Have you ever noticed how some people seem weary of trees? When there are no trees over my head, I feel naked, not protected nor secure… these noble specimens are a big part of my environment and of my life philosophy… they breathe for us. So perusing through a book that I have just bought, lo and behold, there is a whole section on how to draw trees. So this exercise was made by replicating what James Richards has drawn in his book Freehand Drawing & Discovery which is an excellent book on sketching. I drew what he drew in his book… which makes sketching so much easier as he has already done all of the work of observing for moi.
J’aime les arbres… et toutes les sortes d’arbres. Je n’ai jamais rencontré un arbre dans ma vie que je n’ai pas aimé car ils sont tous beaux. Avez-vous déjà remarqué comment certaines personnes n’aiment pas rester sous un arbre? Moi c’est le contraire… je me sens protégée par leur couverture et quand il n’y en a pas, je me sens toute nue. Donc voici des arbres que j’ai dessinés à partir de croquis que James Richard dans son très beau livre Freehand Drawing & Discovery a dessiné. C’est toujours plus facile de dessiner quand quelqu’un d’autre a tout fait le travail de l’observation.
