:: About Me ::

For the past two days I have been spending my time reading on the fine subjects of interdisciplinarity and epistemology — yes you have guessed it, I am a teacher. A longer explanation requires that I go back in time… Driving home on one of these incredibly beautiful sunny days, I happened to be driving by John Abbott College, near Montreal. Being a former John Abbott student, I daydreamed of those days gone by and at that moment I knew that I would work there someday… as this was meant to be.

I’m a Canadian graphic artist, illustrator and watercolour artist. As someone whose academic beginnings focused on Music and Graphic Arts, I was fortunate enough to work for 19 years with open-hearted and talented individuals in Typography and Graphic Design. I then moved on to teach in the public education system in Laval and then joined Cégep John Abbott College to teach Graphic & Web Design. I obtained my Graphic Arts degree in 1983, followed by a Bachelors degree in Music (Vincent d’Indy) & Education (Sherbrooke University) and finally by a Masters degree in Education (Sherbrooke University).

I draw, I sketch, I paint & I live in Rigaud. My watercolour paintings reflect the environment that surrounds me. I paint my rural environment for others to appreciate its beauty, and I draw in order to see and comprehend its grace. I have a blog at www.janehannah.com. I often link my paintings to music as it is an inherent part of my nature.

Here are the events, exhibitions, workshops that have made me a bit of a watercolour artist.

The Physics of the Quest for My Life
1. Leave behind old grudges;
2. Whatever happens to you in life are clues to guide you;
3. Everyone that you meet is your teacher;
4. Face and forgive yourself;
5. Only then, will you find truth.

Lifetime Approach
Creativity is merely a plus name for regular activity…
any activity becomes creative,
when the doer cares about doing it right, or better
and hence the state of flow begins.

Le Corbusier Philosophy
When one travels and works with visual things – architecture, painting or sculpture – one uses one’s eyes and draws, so as to fix deep down in one’s experience what is seen. Once the impression has been recorded by the pencil, it stays for good, entered, registered, inscribed.
To draw oneself, to trace the lines, handle the volumes, organise the surface…all this means first to look, and then to observe and finally perhaps to discover…and it is then that inspiration may come.

  4. Bonsoir Jane,

    Ton cousin Jean
