:: Shortest day of the year ::

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
— Robert Frost

Robert Frost’s poem is one of my favourite ones of all time and so appropriate for this time of year. Today is the shortest day of the year and also the longest night in my neck of the woods, and this gives me much pleasure! To think that tomorrow the days will get longer fills my heart with renewed hope.

I received a Pilot Falcon Fountain Pen with a Soft Extra Fine Nib yesterday in the post and drew this to test it out, and oh by God this is a perfect one!!! The nib is flexible and if I press just a little bit, the ink flows through the twine with great ease… a totally wonderful feeling. So here is my test drive of the day, drawing my husband’s newly built little shed (that ended up being quite big actually).

Fountain Pen: Pilot Falcon SEF
Ink: Iroshizuku, colour kon-peki
Location: Rigaud, Québec, Canada
