Today was a busy day! I first prepped for all of my courses as the end of the semester is drawing near… only 1-1/2 weeks to go and then the correcting phase starts.
Then I prepared all of my documents for the annual spring show of the Artistes Hudson Artists at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre, 394 Main Road in Hudson, Québec. This show will go on over the weekend from Friday June 5th to Sunday June 7th. We are over 70 artists featuring many works and I will be presenting three watercolour paintings. The Vernissage will take place on Friday June 5th from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Hope to see you there.
On Sunday May 24th Les amis de la montagne and the Urban Sketchers of Montreal are taking part in a joint activity called “Draw me a Mountain“, featuring drawings and paintings of Mount Royal. The exhibit is on for the month of May (weekends only) at Maison Smith. I will be helping out on that day.
I also started preparing today another show that is called A Sketch in Time that will be presented in the Project Room at the Stewart Hall Art Gallery in Pointe. Claire from July 5th to August 30th. More info to come later.
To see if a painting “works” or not, I start out with a thumbnail sketch to see what works, what should be left out, what I should keep. I see that this sketch has possibilities and I will keep it as I love the way that the Mount Royal mountain hovers behind the street. This preparation stage is for A Sketch in Time, which will be featuring Montreal paintings. My next thumbnail I will try to simplify some of the elements so that we have a clearer view.

Aujourd’hui a été une journée bien remplie. Premièrement j’ai dû m’occuper de mes diverses tâches pour mon enseignement, entre autre préparer la fin de mes cours pour être prête pour le sprint final… la fin de la session dans 1-1/2 semaine. Ensuite, vive la correction de 92 élèves!
Par la suite j’ai préparé mes dossiers artistiques pour les mois de mai, juin et juillet qui s’en viennent à grands pas. Premièrement, je fais partie de l’exposition des Artistes Hudson Artists au Centre communautaire Stephen F. Shaar, 394 rue Main, Hudson, Québec. Cette expo se tiendra du 5 au 7 juin et le Vernissage est le vendredi 5 juin de 19h30 à 21h30.
Ensuite, Les amis de la montagne et les Urban Sketchers de Montréal se sont joints pour regrouper plus de 50 artistes ensemble et le thème était le Mont-Royal. L’expo se tiendra pendant tout le mois de mai pendant les fins de semaine à la Maison Smith. Malheureusement je n’ai pas eu le temps de faire parvenir une peinture, mais je vais être présente pour aider le dimanche 24 mai, 2015.
J’ai aussi commencé à préparer pour une autre expo qui s’intitule A Sketch in Time qui va être présenté à la galerie d’art de Stewart Hall à Pointe-Claire du 5 juillet au 30 août.
Pour l’événement du A Sketch in Time, j’ai commencé à préparer en forme de croquis une vue du Mont-Royal de la rue Rachel et Mentana. Comme vous pouvez le voir ci-bas, je crois que cette vue va fonctionner donc je vais faire une nouvelles esquisse avec moins de détails pour simplifier la vue. J’espère bien de vous voir à une de ces expos ou encore mieux, à toutes ces expos!
