Machete :: Machette

In our bedroom we have this huge machete that my spouse bought in Guatemala many years ago… it is there, dangling down. It is a beautiful piece of work and is about 3 feet long… and quite heavy. In Southern Africa, it is named a panga or tapanga. In the Philippines, it is called a bolo. Malaysia and Indonesia call them parang or golok, while in Thailand they are named E-Nep or Nep or Hua-Tad or Pra, and is similar to the Muslim Jambiya and the Pakistani/Nepali Khukuri. The Chinese Dao or the Brazilian facão and the Russian Taiga. This instrument throughout many cultures was often known to be an excellent head chopper.
